Bathroom Remodel Carlsbad

Each client we work with is unique and the homeowners we worked with on this bathroom remodel in Carlsbad were no exception.  The couple were older and did not like to travel too far from home so they wanted to work with a local contractor.  It was also important for them to work with a smaller company who would provide more personalized service and who had a showroom.

When the wife initially called in we were surprised she wanted to meet with us at the showroom prior to inviting us out to her home.  She explained she wanted to meet the bathroom designer to make sure she felt comfortable with her before we had anyone come into her house.

We found out her husband was fighting cancer and she wanted to protect him as much as she could from the remodeling process so he could focus on his heath.  It was important to her that she be working with a company who could be flexible on start times because they preferred not to have work start on their home before 9am.  In return she allowed us access to build the bathroom into the later evening hours.

When we completed the project, the clients filled out a 3rd party survey with Guild Quality giving us 5 stars (out of 5) and stating their Area of Satisfaction was:  “The quality of the workers that came to the home.  I was extremely appreciative of the quality and the way they respected us in our home. ”

What we built

1. Bathroom Design

In this Carlsbad bathroom remodel, we reconfigured the space slightly so the homeowners would have a larger walk in shower than they previously had.  The original shower was a small acrylic shower pan that we replaced with hot mop and tile for a much more custom look.  Our clients were aging-in-place so we added some safety features to the shower.  It was important to our client that she have a new vanity area that match the bathroom cabinets so we included that in the design, as well.

2. Product Selections

Vanities:  The homeowners elected to install Starmark Cabinetry in this master bathroom remodel.  They selected the Stratford door style in Maple wood in a Cappuccino color. The Caesarstone Cascata quartz countertop was installed at both vanity locations.

Fixtures and Faucets:    The bathroom features Kohler Devonshire faucets and Mirabelle undermount sinks.  To save on cost the homeowner kept the existing toilet which was functional and fairly new as well as kept their existing chandelier.  The tub was changed to a 5 ft Kohler Underscore topmount.

Tile:  The new shower features 12×12 St. Mortitz tile and is accented by 1×1 Manhattan Pistachio deco dots.  The floor was laid in a 33% stagger with Toscano Silver 12×24 tile.

Paint:  Our clients had a green bathroom originally and they wanted to keep a similar shade so we applied Behr “Promenade” in a semi-gloss on the walls
